Berlin, Germany is hosting the 2009 MTV Europe Music Awards for the second timeThe very first MTV EMA’s were inaugurated in 1994 in Berlin at the Brandenburger Gate. The event celebrated a new age across Europe as well as the unification of Germany. For the fourth time the Awards are held in Germany. To celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall the Europe Music Awards return on the 5th of november to Berlin. This time the event will be at the O2 World Arena in Berlin and in front of the Brandenburger Gate. The multipurpose Arena opened in September 2008 and is one of the most modern multifunction arenas in Europe and the rest of the world with 17,000 seats. According to Chairman & CEO, MTV Networks International Bill Roedy, had MTV always a very strong connection with Berlin, Germany. MTV was there when the wall came down in 1989 and is helping the city now to recognise its position as one of the most inspiring, vibrant and influential metropolitans in the world. |
